I consider Myanmar as my second home. I have been to Myanmar 5 times since 2013. I cannot get enough of this country: the food, the people, the sights, and the culture endear this country to me. I have visited a few cities and towns but in order to show my appreciation to the memories I have made in Myanmar, I will break it down into several featured posts. First on the spotlight is Yangon. Yangon is the former capital of Myanmar, known in the past as Rangoon.

Yangon is synonymous to it's most famous landmark: Shwedagon Pagoda. It is Myanmar's most sacred pagoda. It is a gilded stupa pagoda and stands 326 foot tall (99m). At night, it glows in bright gold as it is covered with golden plates (real gold). The crow's tip is made up of 5,448 diamonds and 2,317 rubies. Shwedagon is believed to house a very sacred relic within: 8 strands of hair from the head of Buddha.

I also enjoy discovering quaint, non-touristy spots to catch Yangon feels, eat and bask in the over-all experience of Yangon. Here are some of the places I paid homage to when I visited in Yangon.
